We went to Madrid the weekend before last. Here’s a post I wrote en-route which I was unfortunately unable to post due to a lack of wi-fi. More updates on our trip soon!
Today kicked off at somewhere between stupidly and ridiculously early. The birdies were chirping outside, yet it was still dark. A 4:30am alarm call is surely a rude awakening.
We jumped in the car to the airport and enjoyed a scrummy breakfast in Pret before boarding our first plane to Paris. All was going well… until we landed… there were no ground staff to direct our plane into its ‘parking space’, then the steps to disembark hadn’t turned up, when they did, they didn’t fit. Add in a stupidly slow route through security and lo and behold we miss our connecting flight.
We queue at customer services, people try to podge, the customer service rep looks as if it’s our fault and puts us on the waiting list for the next flight, which turns out to be full.
Thankfully the rep at the second desk was much more helpful and although our journey to Madrid is now a little longer (we have to fly into Barcelona first) at least it looks as though we might get there today! At the moment I’m in Charles De Gaulle airport trying to resist a Laduree macaroon!
