Fiction: Book Review: The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom

What I'm reading

If I could write like Mitch Albom I would be a very happy girl indeed. His sentence structure is so succinct, yet his choice of words so precise that you don’t need any extra words to get a real sense of every single moment of the story in his books.

In his latest novel residents from Coldwater, Michigan start to receive phone calls from dead relatives and friends. Mitch seamlessly weaves these tales together until they converge into an explosive crescendo. Are the phone calls real, or is it a hoax? Can people really communicate beyond the grave? You’ll have to read the book to find out. Although tantalisingly the end raises as many questions as it answers…
